So maybe you’ve never tried yoga before, but you’re curious what all the fuss is about?  Everyone you meet these days seems to be yoga-obsessed, so what are you missing out on? Well, a killer workout for one. Then there’s the muscle tone, balance, relaxation and general wellbeing. Frankly, what isn’t good about yoga?

Here’s what you need to know if you want to try it for the first time.

The most common type of yoga is Vinyasa, a name they give to a style that takes you through a series of poses one after the other to create different flows of positions.

If you’re feeling intimidated and anxious about attending a class, and aren’t sure on which side of the mat should be facing up, remember once upon a time everyone there was a beginner.

Dress comfortably. Yoga pants aren’t necessary if you don’t own a pair, just try to find something not too baggy that may catch or restrict your movement transitioning between poses.

Take a towel and a water bottle (yes, you can expect to work up a sweat). Most studios will have mats already, but you can always ask when you book if you need to take one along.

It will take some time to master each yoga pose, so don’t expect to ace it on your first go. Do however, be prepared to love it after your first try, because really, yoga is definitely worth making a fuss over.
