rebel today announced its official sponsorship of upcoming documentary, The Will to Fly, featuring the story of Australian aerial skiing champion and Olympic gold medallist, Lydia Lassila, set to premiere on 8 March 2016 at the Rivoli Cinema in Melbourne in celebration of International Women’s Day.
The documentary tells the story of Lydia Lassila’s journey to the Sochi Olympics in 2014, and her dream of becoming the first woman to land the quad-twisting triple somersault, the most complex acrobatic manoeuvre in aerial skiing.
Ms Erica Berchtold, Managing Director, rebel, said:
“As Australia’s largest sporting retailer, rebel is committed to supporting women in sport and The Will to Fly is a film that promotes one of Australia’s best female athletes, demonstrating her passion, drive and commitment.”
Ms Katie Bender, Producer and Director, Binding Films, said:
“We couldn’t be happier about the partnership with The Will to Fly and rebel. The response and goodwill toward the film has been overwhelming and having a partner such as rebel come on board further reinforces this. Their commitment to raising awareness and support toward women in sport perfectly aligns with the film and some of the many important messages it carries.”
As part of its official sponsorship of the film, rebel will also promote the documentary through its wide-reaching digital channels, as well as working with Binding Films to create greater discussion about equality in sport to help better educate audiences about issues around women in sport.
