Looking for healthy breakfast ideas to entice your kids away from sugary cereals? You can invent your own movie-inspired smoothie bowls.  Here’s a few ideas we came up with to help kickstart the creative juices.

Blue Lagoon Smoothie Bowl
Serves: 1

Ingredients

  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 2 lady finger bananas, ideally frozen
  • 1/3 cup rolled oats
  • 2 Tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 Tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon blue algae powder
  • 4 lychees
  • 1 small kiwifruit
  • 1/2 passionfruit
  • Mandarin segments
  • 1 Tablespoon crushed pineapple
  • 2 Tablespoons fresh blueberries
  • 1 Tablespoons fresh raspberries
  • 1 Tablespoon sunflower

Method

  1. Place all the ingredients in a high-speed blender except the fruit and seeds and process until smooth.
  2. Taste and adjust for sweetness if you like.
  3. Pour into a bowl and have fun with your toppings!

Using a sharp knife cut the kiwifruit into thin slices and remove the skin. Use your decorative skills to shape into round petalled flowers, or if you’re short on time – dice.

Artistically arrange the toppings on one side oof  your blue lagoon smoothie bowl the blended ingredients look like a water.Toss seeds over top. Decorate with edible flowers – pansies make a colourful addition for .

King Kong Smoothie Bowl
Serves: 1

Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 3 lady finger bananas,frozen
  • 1/3 cup rolled oats
  • 2 Tablespoons maple syrup
  • 2 Tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon cacao powder
  • Sliced banana
  • Handful of banana chips

Method

  1. Place all the ingredients except for the extra sliced banana, the banana chips  in a Nutribullet and process until smooth.
  2. Add extra maple syrup if necessary.
  3. Pour into a bowl and place sliced bananas artistically around the edge of the bowl followed by an inner ring of banana chips.

Decorate with sliced banana and banana chips one side of your monkey inspired smoothie bowl.

The Hulk Smoothie Bowl

Serves 1

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 2 slice of frozen pineapple
  • Kale (optional)
  • 1/3 cup rolled oats
  • 2 Tablespoons honey
  • handful of spinach
  • Sliced kiwi fruit
  • 1/2 Granny smith apple

Method

  1. Place all the ingredients except for the extra sliced kiwi fruit, and the apple in a Nutribullet or high speed blenderand process until smooth.
  2. Pour into a bowl and place sliced kiwifruit artistically around the edge of the bowl followed by an inner ring of banana chips.
