If you’ve been running for awhile without any specific goals in mind and need a new challenge, here’s a few upcoming events, you might like to take part in.

Queensland

The Darkness to Daylight Challenge Run

Where: Brisbane, South Bank Parklands
When: May 3-4, 2017

The 110km run denotes the lives lost to domestic violence each year in Australia. It will be held following the annual candle lighting vigil for domestic violence. Compete as an individual or a relay team. Anyone is invited to join in to run the last 10km or walk the 3km.

Australian Capital Territory/New South Wales

2017 Australian Rogaining Championships
Where:
Between Canberra and Cooma
When: May 6-7, 2017

Enjoy the expertly set navigation courses through mountains and forest, where you might even spot some Australia wildlife.

Colour Run
Where: Oyster Parade Park, Forster
When: May 6, 2017

Suitable for any age group or fitness level, competitors may walk, skip, run and leap their way through an explosion of vivid colour. Don’t miss the live DJ spinning up all great music and a chance to get even more doused in colour after you cross the finish line

Alzheimer’s Australia’s Memory Walk and Jog
Where: Leichhardt Oval, Lilyfield, Sydney
When: May 7, 2017

There are two distances to walk or run, 2km or 7.5km. All funds go toward those impacted by the brain disease through counselling, support groups and professional training.

The Nail Can Hill Run
Where: Albury
When: May 7, 2017

An annual grueling 11.3km run and walk over Nail Can Hill on the first Sunday in May with the 4.3km half on easier terrain if you’re not ready to go the whole hog. Following the run there’s a 15km mountain bike event.

The Wild Goose Chase
Where: Avon Valley
When: May 19-21, 2017

Australia’s newest multi-day event with a selection of trail races from 5km for the kids up to 177km. Events named the  Loose Goose (18km, 45km 22.5km) and the Duck’s Nuts (18km, 106km, 53km) will test what you’re made of. Not for the faint-hearted.

The Compass Southern Edition Marathon
