So you’ve tried changing up your music playlist, new activewear, exploring new trails, even beach running…but you’re still finding running boring? Fear not, we’ve got a few unique ways to change up your routine.

An Asian twist
5K fun run’s not challenging enough? Looking for a run that will push you to your limits, why not train for the Great Wall of China Marathon. There are  5,164 steps and it is revered as one of the world’s most challenging marathon. Every year is a sellout event with approximately 2,500 participants. If you’re not quite up to a full marathon, you can choose to do a half or and 8.5km fun run. The next event takes place May 19. 2018.

Take on the zombie dash

If you’ve ever wondered if you could run fast enough to survive a zombie apocalypse, now you can find out. When the sun goes down on Saturday, May 19th 2018, Mount Penang Parklands (just over half an hour from Wahroonga, Sydney) on the Central Coast, you’ll be briefed on your mission before left to face your biggest fears. Runners depart in waves from 6.00pm to complete the 5km run and duck, dive and dodge the multitude of zombies lurking in the dark. The later the hour, the crazier the zombies get, so organisers recommend those with weak bladders and small children start the dash earlier in the evening. The earlier you register, the cheaper the entry free. We recommend wearing a runner’s headlamp for the uneven terrain. For more information visit www.zombiedash.com.au

If you’d prefer to be a zombie, be prepared to commit to the entire night. There’s some exhilarating about scaring your prey when they least expect it.
