It’s the most anticipated weekend on the winter calendar. Drum roll…the opening weekend of ski season at Perisher. With a plethora of activities planned across the weekend including the not-to-be-missed Peak Music Festival, there’s plenty for snow enthusiasts to enjoy. June 10, is the official start of the ski season at Perisher. It kicks off with the renowned Peak Music Festival running from June 9 to June 12. In addition to more than 120 performances and 30 bands, there’s the annual spoken word and poetry competitions. Make sure you get your festival passes which include a free Saturday night ski.
Witness the spectacular display of Fireworks from Saturday night 7.00pm across Perisher’s front valley. It’s a spectacular site while skiing.
For beginner’s and those who want to build their confidence on the mountain, Perisher’s trained ski instructors will be ready to teach you all the essential skis for looking cool on the snow.
There’s a chance to show off your impressive snowboarding tricks at the PlayStation Rail Jam. There are prizes up for grabs for those who wow the judges. If you can’t snowboard, that’s okay, you can stand back and just be amazed. All the action kicks off at 11.00am on the Saturday.
Take part in a Perisher tradition, the annual blessing of the snow run. It’s held at Australia’s highest altitude church from 12 midday on June 11. After the service there will be sausages and hot chocolates.
